HVAC System Performance Verification – Maximizing Energy Efficiency through System Performance (Coming Soon!)

The System Performance training and certification program identifies and addresses areas of knowledge, skills and abilities required to maximize the energy efficiency of Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Systems.

The training program is designed to be used a trainer/instructor led program and incorporates the whole house/building concept.

Training Manuals in the Series:

Critical Charging Procedures

  • 68% of all air conditioning systems are improperly charged
  • A slight under or over charge effects energy consumption by 18 to 25%

Air Flow

  • 70% of all systems have improper airflow.
  • Improper airflow effects both sensible and latent efficiency and decreases energy efficiency.

Combustion Analysis

  • 91% of systems remain untested for combustion safety and efficiency!
  • A minor air/fuel ratio inaccuracy will effect energy efficiency by 18% to 20%.

Psychrometrics

  • Improper system sensible to latent heat ratio leads to occupant discomfort, and possible mold growth.
  • Occupant discomfort, leads to frequent thermostat adjustments, which increases energy consumption.

Duct and Envelope Tightness

  • High infiltration rates and/or duct leakage effect airflow as well as both latent and sensible capacities.

Certification:

To document a technician’s comprehension of the training a four part, 100-question, certification examination is available covering the following areas:

  • Critical Charging Procedures
  • Airflow
  • Combustion Analysis
  • Psychrometrics

The certification examination tests a technician’s knowledge of the processes and procedures required to ensure HVAC systems are performing at maximum efficiency. (Certification issued by the Green Mechanical Council.)

A separate, 100 question examination is available for Duct and Envelope Tightness.
